How to disassemble a tablet

We all use tablets for different purposes, and usually there are no difficulties when using them. But sometimes it becomes necessary to replace individual components. For example, due to prolonged use, the battery has deteriorated, or you have broken the display. In this case, contacting a specialist is quite expensive. It is also impractical if you live in a small village. Therefore, it is much easier to find out how the tablet is disassembled in order to make the simplest repair on its own. Of course, each model is designed differently. But in this article we will provide you with a generalized diagram for disassembling the tablet. After reading it, you will be able to generally understand how this device works.

What you need when disassembling

Screwdrivers

This is the most necessary, since without them it is impossible to carefully open the tablet. You can, of course, use a knife. But then there is a high probability of damage to the screws. A set of screwdrivers is inexpensive. It can also be used to disassemble other devices.

Plastic spatula

She is required to detach the back cover and other items. It is also convenient for her to disconnect the cables on the board.

If you do not have such a scapula, then this does not matter.

Advice! The blade can be replaced by an unnecessary plastic card. It is advisable to grind one edge on the grindstone. So it will be much more convenient to disassemble the tablet.

Blow dryer

This appliance is used when soldering small components of the board. It can also be used to separate the touch part of the screen, since in most cases it is glued to the glue.

Thin knife

It is convenient to work with these tools with components that you could not separate with a regular knife. Its main advantage is a thin blade, because they can be selected to hard to reach places.

Nippers

When disassembling, most likely you will not need this tool. But in some cases, the manufacturer glues some parts so tightly that you can not do without such a tool. Before using the nippers, you should definitely think about whether you can later return the bitten component to working condition.

Tweezers

We recommend taking almost all small parts with tweezers., since, firstly, it is much more convenient than hands. Secondly, if you take the components of the board with your hands, then sebum from your fingers will remain on them. Although not all components are dangerous, we would not advise you to take the risk.

Scotch

It will be useful to us already at the assembly stage, so some cables, microcontrollers, touchscreens are glued to tape.

How to open a tablet

First of all, when disassembling the tablet, the back cover is removed. After that, the main parts will appear before you: the board, the battery, etc. Now we will tell you how to properly dismantle the back cover.

Cover release

Many tablets have side connectors for SIM cards and a USB flash drive. They are closed with special caps, they should be disconnected first. This is done in order to make it easier for us to remove the cover.

Next, unscrew all the screws located along the edges that secure the cover. Be sure to check the flash drive slots and SIM cards. Often in these places are additional locking screws.

Important! We recommend putting screws for fastening the cap into the plastic cap from the bottle. When you unscrew the tablet board, these screws must be put in another cover.

This is done so as not to confuse them. Since if you tighten other screws, you can damage the thread.

Cover removal

Next, using a plastic spatula or card, you need to pry the latches on the back wall. To do this, place the tablet with the screen facing you. Then carefully insert the blade into the gap between the body and the cover. You need to enter the scapula until you hear a characteristic click.

Then the blade must be slowly carried out along the body so that all the latches are unfastened. When removing the cover, make sure that no wires or cables are holding it. If there are loops, then you need to use a spatula to pry the latch up. After that, you can remove the cable and put the cover to the side.

Tablet disassembly

After removing the cover, further disassembly can be carried out. We will tell you how to disassemble the device.

Disabling loops and wires

  • Carefully inspect all the cables and connectors on the tablet motherboard. Pay special attention to the type of fastening, in this case, when disconnecting, you will not damage the cable.
  • Using tweezers, disconnect all the cables from the motherboard. The simplest detachable vibrator, SIM card slots and flash drives, microphone, speakers, aux jack (for connecting headphones), camera.
  • If the cable is glued to the board, then first of all, it needs to be warmed up with a blow dryer, so as not to damage it. A temperature of 60 ° will be sufficient. It is not worth warming up much, as some components are sensitive to high temperatures.

Attention! Be sure to record in which order you disconnect the components and loops. Then you can assemble the tablet in the correct order.

Battery disconnect

Unlike smartphones, the battery in tablets is almost always non-removable. It is connected using several wires. At the end, there is usually a connector that connects to the motherboard.

  • First, disconnect the battery connector from the motherboard. Only then can the screws of the battery mount be loosened.
  • If it is glued to a double-sided tape, then you will have to peel it off by hand.
  • Using a blow dryer is not recommended. Since heating the battery is a rather dangerous activity.

Motherboard removal

When you have disabled all the components and loops, then it is the turn of the main circuit - the motherboard. This is the main part, since it houses the processor, graphics accelerator, RAM and other important chips.

  • Make sure all loops are disabled. Then unscrew the screws fixing the board. Now you can remove the motherboard.
  • The main elements are protected by special steel plates. This is necessary to protect components from electromagnetic radiation. On some plates, a heat-conducting paste is applied on the reverse side. This is to protect against overheating.
  • Some manufacturers stick the plates on glue. This feature greatly complicates the repair. therefore if you don’t need to replace the processor or RAM, it’s better just do not touch these plates.

Detaching the sensor and sensor

The tablet screen consists of a touch part, which is also called a touchscreen, and a matrix, thanks to it you see the image. These parts have to be changed most often. Since cracks appear on these parts from falling onto the floor or rough handling. The matrix and touch panel are removed as follows.

  • Heat the edges of the touchscreen with a blow dryer to a temperature of about 80-90 ° to soften the glue.
  • After that, slip a plastic card under the touch panel and carefully draw it along the gluing places. Now it will be possible to remove the touchscreen to the side.
  • Next, turn the tablet over and warm up the aluminum case in the place of attachment of the matrix.
  • Pry up the display with a plastic spatula and carefully remove it.

Attention! If the touchscreen or matrix is not damaged on the tablet, then you do not need to disassemble them.

The fact is that when peeling off the touchscreen, it is likely to crack. Plus, the glue that has melted from the temperature will spread across the panel and you will have to clean it.

We hope that our article will help you when disassembling the tablet. We wish you success and that the tablet never breaks!
