Which port for the printer to choose during installation

Very often, a computer and office equipment user has to determine the printer port. This is a strength and a beginner, because it will only take care and standard features of the Windows-system.

To determine it, the user needs to have access to a Windows PC and additional software.

Remember, some older models of the device are still equipped with LPT. If the device is with USB, then in most models you can find support for options such as Plug & Play. This function is very useful. First go to the Start menu, look for the item with printers, find the device you are using and click on "Properties". In the dialog box, select the port that is used by the device.

Important! Not all USB ports can be connected using an extension cable. That is why the power and intensity of the signal decreases, delays may occur during operation.

To get started, you must install a local device with a USB interface. After that, it should connect to a personal computer using a USB cable. This is a manual method.

If you try automatic, you need to go to "Control Panel" - "Equipment and Sound" - "Devices and Printers", select the installation and insert the local printer. Soon there will be a list, put USB001 out of all, and the printer will already select your own from the same list.

You can assign a default device, you must:

  1. Open the desired item in the "Start".
  2. In the "Print Task" you need to click on the download and run.
  3. Then remove the automatic detection and turn on the local device. Installing Plug and Play, click "Next."
  4. After that you need to create a fresh port, enter the name and click "OK".
  5. It remains to complete the operation through the installation wizard.

Attention! It is better to connect the device to a PC through the ports that are on the motherboard.

All these methods are simple and installation problems should not arise. Hopefully the tips helped. Good luck
