How to choose a cartridge for the printer

The cartridge is a necessary element of any printing device. The user may face the problem of replacing this component, for example, if it fails. How to deal with this issue and make the right choice - later in the article.

What types of cartridges are

Cartridges are classified according to several criteria. Depending on the office equipment, there are the following types:

  1. Matrix. They have a non-separable case and a special tape, on which the paint is applied. Can contain from 1 to 4 colors. They are not used at home due to low speed and poor print quality.
  2. Inkjet. Work on liquid paint. Provide high quality printing (especially color photos), easy to operate and install, it is possible to refuel. This is a budget option, as they are inexpensive. There are built-in ink-head (which makes it more expensive to replace the cartridge). Their disadvantage is a quick consumption of colors, since the capacity is on average calculated for 200 pages.
  3. Laser. Work on dry dyeing powder. Characterized by high speed and low consumption: one toner lasts about 2000 pages. However, they function poorly after refueling (in some models it is not provided) and are distinguished by a high price — up to of the cost of the printer itself. As a rule, only black and white prints are supported.
  4. LED. The parameters coincide with the laser consumables.

The second classification - depending on the conditions of replacement and reuse:

  1. Single, after use of paint are replaced by a new cassette. These include licensed cartridges with a special chip that can automatically block the continuation of printing after a certain number of pages.
  2. Renewable components, support refueling and work stably after it.

Analogs are cartridges manufactured by other companies that can fully replace a certain list of original products. Often they are capable of renewal by refueling.

ATTENTION! Beware of fakes. No need to buy tanks in questionable outlets.

Which cartridge is better to choose

Before you buy toner, consider the following nuances:

  • cartridge frequency and print level;
  • working speed, acceptable frequency of refills or cartridge change;
  • manufacturer;
  • cost

Ink cartridge suitable if you want to get high-quality color photos and use the equipment plan in the usual mode, without a large amount of printing.

Laser toner will provide a high print rate and a long working mode without replacements, will give a quick result even with a large number of sources. If you do not mind the high price of the product, then this is your option.

In the case when there is no experience in choosing a particular model, you can pay attention to the products of such popular manufacturers as HP, Epson, Canon, known for their quality and reasonable price.

How to find out which cartridge is needed for a printer

If you already have a printing device, the cartridge should be purchased based on the printer model. Open the device and carefully consider the capacity: each of them has a sticker with a digital code, it is for him to choose a replacement.

Data may be contained on the package (if it is preserved).

Another way: go to the website of the manufacturer of the printer. We are looking for information either in the section dedicated to consumables, or type in the search model of your PU and review its main characteristics.

IMPORTANT! To avoid confusion, write down the numbers you are looking for, as there is a large selection of toners in the stores, and there is a risk of purchasing the wrong container. Return and exchange of these products are not subject.

There are two purchase options: buy a licensed cartridge from the manufacturer or its equivalent, another company. Analogs contain a list of those cartridges that they can fully replace. Carefully read these figures, in case of doubt, contact the seller. Similar products have a significant advantage over the originals: the difference in price can be thousands of rubles, while maintaining full print quality.
