How the epilator works

The problem of removing unwanted body hair is familiar to every modern girl. However, despite the wide variety of methods for carrying out this procedure, not all of them can achieve the desired and lasting effect. One of the most popular and effective ways to keep your skin smooth and attractive for a long time is to use an epilator.

Epilator - a device equipped with metal tweezers, which during rotation capture and remove unwanted hairs from the root. The number of tweezers may vary depending on the manufacturer and model of a specific device.

Due to the variety of functions and many additional nozzles, modern devices are suitable for removing hair on any part of the body. So, epilators are often equipped with special massage or cooling nozzles designed to reduce pain and prevent irritation from the procedure, as well as nozzles for removing hair in sensitive areas.

Unlike shaving, in which only part of the hair above the skin surface is cut, the epilator removes it along with the root. Thus, the formation of a new bulb and hair growth requires significantly more time. The use of the device is safe, does not require special skills and additional devices, and the effect of its use can last up to 3-4 weeks.

In order for the hair removal procedure to cause as little discomfort as possible, a number of simple rules for using the epilator should be followed.

  1. Length. Unlike depilation with a machine that removes hairs even of small size, their capture by the device is provided only with a length of 40-50 mm, so before proceeding with the removal, you will have to give the hairs a little growth.
  2. Preparatory procedures. Do not neglect preparatory measures before hair removal. So, preliminary steaming of the skin will help reduce pain. To do this, you can stand in a hot shower or take a warm bath with sea salt or essential oils for 15-20 minutes.
  3. The direction of movement of the device. To achieve a better effect, the device should be held against hair growth under a slight slope in the direction of movement.
  4. Disk rotation speed. If the manufacturer provides for the adjustment of the speed of the epilator, for the first procedures and removal of hard hairs it is better to choose a low rotation power. Over time, when the skin adapts, and the hairs become thinner, you can switch to a faster mode.

One of the main mistakes in using the epilator is excessive pressure on the device. This does not increase the effectiveness of the procedure, however, it can cause increased skin irritation and lead to scratches from rotating discs and tweezers.

After hair removal, skin irritation may occur. This phenomenon is considered the norm and can persist for 3-6 hours. To relieve inflammation, you can use moisturizers and sedatives, for example, aloe vera gels. If irritation persists during the day, it is better to choose a different way to get rid of unwanted hairs.

IMPORTANT!After epilation of the armpits, it is not recommended to apply deodorant to them for 6 hours.

Despite the huge variety of manufacturers and models of epilators on store shelves, they all have a number of characteristic pros and cons.

So, the advantages of the device include:

  • the possibility of independent use;
  • simplicity in operation;
  • convenience of storage;
  • long-term effect of the procedure due to the removal of hairs from the root;
  • universality of the device: with it you can remove hair of any stiffness and on any part of the body;
  • low price in comparison with salon services.

However, despite the large number of advantages, it also has its drawbacks:

  • pain during hair removal with a root;
  • the duration of the procedure in comparison with shaving and other methods of depilation;
  • the need for preparatory activities;
  • the possibility of ingrown hair;
  • most models work quite loudly.

IMPORTANT!To prevent hair ingrowth will help special tools that must be used after hair removal. If the hairs have already grown, peeling with a sugar or salt scrub will help to solve the problem.

When choosing an epilator, you should give preference to devices of proven and well-established manufacturers. Do not neglect the presence of additional nozzles in the kit, as well as a variety of functions, such as backlighting and several high-speed modes. The costs will pay off, providing the most comfortable hair removal and long-term effect of the procedure.
