How to transport washing machines

Household appliances require special handling during transportation. The presence of small moving parts requires you to be careful about the movements of such objects. This is especially true for washing machines. Inside there are movable drum and tank, which can be damaged without fixing.

The need to fix the insides of the machine

In the basic configuration of the washing machine from the store there are special transportation bolts designed to fix parts. If the equipment has already been used and there is a need to transport it to a new installation location, these bolts can be lost, and you have to resort to improvised means. It could be:

  • The cloth;
  • Foam rubber;
  • Styrofoam.

These funds must be placed inside the machine, having previously disassembled it - removing the top cover. To do this, you need to unscrew the bolts, then put soft materials inside, make sure that the drum and tank are fixed, and put the lid back in place.

After that, you should also carefully handle the equipment. Fixing the internal movable elements does not mean the invulnerability of the external coating. It should also be wrapped with cloth, corrugated cardboard or film.

Transportation of the machine is carried out only in an upright position. If it is placed in a cardboard box that is not suitable in size and there is space left inside, it must also be filled with soft materials.

Transportation rules

When transporting this equipment by truck, the machine must be placed sideways in the direction of travel.

When it is adjacent to other objects in the car body, it is necessary to put it close or fill the empty space between things. Moving the machine around the body during movement can result in damage to the outer casing, nozzles, contacts, or adjacent items.

Attention! The corners of the washing machines are quite sharp. To avoid damage to other equipment or furniture during transportation, it is recommended to visually calculate the possible contact and isolate the corners with a soft cloth on the tape.

Before moving the machine into the car, you must perform the following steps:

  • Secure the drain hose to tape or duct tape to the back of the machine;
  • Make sure that the closed door is secure. Despite the presence of a locking mechanism, it is better to seal it with adhesive tape or wrap it with rope;
  • Check for powder or air conditioning in the compartment.

Difficulties in transporting equipment can arise if you move the machine from the upper floors in the house without an elevator. Professionals and technicians from the store have special equipment and skill in this difficult matter. But you can successfully transfer the washing machine from any floor on your own.

Features of manual carrying

Despite the seemingly compact size and voids inside the machine, by weight it is quite heavy. In order to transfer it correctly and without damage, it is necessary to start the task together. Three people are superfluous for this purpose, and one cannot carry an object (the exception is sportsmen - heavyweights).

The washing machine can only be transported vertically or with a slight slope (no more than 30 degrees). To do this, one person takes it from behind the bottom, and the other in front. It is more convenient if in front - the carrier will capture the equipment not behind him, but directly in front of him. This increases the chances of carrying without damage. The only inconvenience - you have to go down the stairs backwards.

Dragging the washing machine is also not recommended. In addition to the obvious possibility of severely damaging the surface of the floor, you can accidentally chop off or mash the edge of the machine. The washing machine has a fairly streamlined shape, without additional handles or thrust devices, so you have to tilt it slightly before any movement. Before you do this, it is better to secure another person's insurance from the side where you tilt the equipment.

Loading in a car

If freight transport is offered, there will be no loading problems. Any washing machine will fit "standing" in any gazelle or KAMAZ. But with a passenger car will have to work hard. There are three transportation options for the passenger car: on the rear wall, on the side or standing.

The third option will not cause inconvenience if the machine contains equipment. When transported on its side, many do not fix the inner drum and tank, but unnecessary precautions will not interfere. Particular attention should be paid to checking the internal contents of the machine for such types of transportation as on the side or on the back wall. If water or powder remains in the tank, this can lead to damage to the electronics, up to the complete destruction of the mechanisms.

The most "capricious" brand of cars for transportation is Zanussi. A drain valve located near the counterweight prevents it from tilting or lying down. If the machine is so placed, the valve breaks.

Signs of damage due to improper transport

After transporting this equipment, it is recommended to turn it on immediately and check for damage. If the place where it will stand is not yet ready, just connect the water supply hose and simply hang the drain hose into the bathtub or sink.

The most common damage after transportation

  • Damage to the housing. It can be a simple scratch or chip. Such damage is detected not only during self-transportation. Appearance should be carefully checked when delivering a new machine from the store;
  • Damage to the drain pump. May disconnect, tear or move away from the case;
  • Damage to the powder compartment and conditioner. Occurs due to its loss without proper fixing;
  • Failure of the control panel;
  • Water ingress and electronics failure;
  • Damage to the shock absorber;
  • Power wire breakage.

Any breakdown can be eliminated, except for a broken case or a complete failure of the electronics. You can only connect the washing machine after completely unpacking and removing the packaging material from the inside. If the drum is still bolted, they must be removed.

It is possible to reuse the bolts, so it is better to put them in a safe place or, if the space permits, fix them in a plastic bag directly on the back of the machine. Before installing the machine in its stationary place, you need to make sure the floor is even.

The machine is strictly contraindicated to operate on an uneven floor. Its movement during washing, especially when spinning at high speeds, can cause the device to move on the floor, leading to the disconnection of hoses and "accidents" with a leakage machine.

Shipping Tips

Before packing the machine or unscrewing its covers, you need to make sure the device is dry inside. To do this, remove the powder compartment, rinse it and dry it. To drain the fluid from a stacked or drain hose, you can tilt the machine and lower the end of the hoses into a basin or bath. Hoses cannot be disconnected from the machine - they make up a single composition.

When the machine was just brought from the store, it is recommended not to throw out not only the box from it (in order to guarantee the goods), but also the foam in which it was packed for at least the first year. This guarantees the device a safe relocation, and you reduce the packaging problems of the washing machine.
