What is a monitor?

A monitor is a device for displaying images by connecting it through a cable to a port on a video card or motherboard. This is part of the computer equipment that allows you to expand the capabilities of the device through the detailed transfer of colors, lines and the entire image. The monitor has many names: screen, display, and so on, so let it be in a different interpretation, but each computer user is faced with the name of such a device.

What is a monitor?

A monitor is not just a connection of wires and cables to a display, it is a multifunctional device that allows you to visualize any images, regardless of their specificity. Such a device is necessary for input and output of information. There are different display variations depending on the diagonal, the type of device design, and so on. Therefore, the consumer receives a large assortment of high-quality, reliable and proven equipment for home and office use.

Screens can be stationary and mobile if it is a laptop or netbook. For tablets and smartphones, the word display is better, since the combination of a screen and a touch screen expands the capabilities of the gadget, so there are not many similarities with the standard understanding of the monitor.

What is it for?

It is impossible to use a computer without a screen, since all received signals from the video card must be converted into an image, so a special device for presentations is required. A projector can be used instead of a monitor, but this is another device with characteristic technical features.

Displays since its inception have improved not only in terms of variety, but also in terms of technical capabilities. The image on the screen is formed by dots - pixels. Their total number when creating one picture can exceed several million, depending on the image quality and the diagonal of the display. The more pixels in the picture, the better it will be.

Modern monitors are the embodiment of innovative technologies and techniques, which provides colorful images combined with reliable operation.

What can be replaced

If the monitor breaks down or becomes unstable during use, it can be replaced by an LED or LCD TV. These are both categories of devices intended for image presentation and formation of an accurate signal transmission, but it is necessary to select special cables that can ensure smooth operation in accordance with the rules.

But the TV is not always suitable as a replacement for the monitor, since it should have almost identical technical parameters for a single operation with the system unit.

Attention! Monitors are special computer equipment, therefore it is not recommended to use a TV instead of them on an ongoing basis.

How to choose a monitor

When choosing, it is worth considering the following criteria:

  1. Type of matrix. The color rendering quality and the accuracy of images without glare depends on this.
  2. Display size. The size of the display must be selected depending on the purpose of the application. It can be a small monitor for home use and with a large diagonal for work tasks.
  3. Aspect ratio. This indicator affects the image quality and ease of perception.
  4. Video Connectors Additional video connectors are an opportunity to expand the functional features of the TV.

The monitor is an important computer device, thanks to which you can get an accurate image of the viewed materials. The device must be selected depending on the technical parameters and personal requirements.
